Web Automation
Guides for authoring, running and analysing tests across web automation, API and performance — plus setup, collaboration and release notes.
Author Testcase
Author Testcase is where you define test logic after a Web testcase exists. Build ordered steps and actions in the editor using manual authoring, recording, or AI assistance—then save and run the testcase.
Authoring modes
What you author
- Step — a logical phase (for example, Login, Checkout).
- Action — an operation inside a step (click, input, wait, assert, and similar).
- Reuse Elements, Step Groups, and Test Data where applicable.
Authoring modes
Manual authoring
Create and maintain testcase logic in the editor without recording. Best for precise control, validations, expressions, and maintaining existing tests.
Recording-based authoring
Capture browser actions and convert them into steps and actions. Best for drafting flows quickly; refine locators and waits afterward in the editor.
When to use which
- Manual — complex logic, custom assertions, or refactoring recorded steps.
- Recording — new UI paths, smoke flows, or fast capture of clicks and navigation.
- Hybrid — record first, then edit manually or use Record More to extend.
Expected outcome
You know how Author Testcase fits after Create Testcase, which mode to use, and where to go for detailed Manual or Recording steps.
