Performance Testing

Guides for authoring, running and analysing tests across web automation, API and performance — plus setup, collaboration and release notes.

Overview

Performance testing measures how your application behaves under load — response times, throughput, errors, and resource use — not just pass/fail like functional tests.

Performance tests live under Performance in the project, separate from API and Web functional testing. A performance testcase references functional API or Web testcases (or a JMX file) and defines how hard and how long to run.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, ensure:

  • You are logged in and in the correct organization and project.
  • For API or Web load tests, functional testcases already exist under or when you plan to reference them as load sources.

Performance test types

Pick the type when creating a performance testcase.

TypeWhat it runs
API Load Test (perf_api_only)Load against an API functional testcase or a JMX file
Web Automation (perf_web_only)A Web functional testcase on multiple virtual instances
API + Web (perf_api_web)API load and Web automation together in one performance test

How it fits together

  • Functional testcase (API or Web) — defines steps and flows.
  • Performance testcase — defines the load model (users, duration, ramp).
  • Cloud run + Test Run Config — executes the test on the platform.
  • Test Results — metrics, baseline, and comparison over time.

Note:

  • Performance runs are cloud only — no Local Agent.
  • Functional testcases are authored under API or Web; performance testcases reference them (or JMX) and control load.

Getting Started with Performance Testing

  • or set
  • Execute using
  • with a required run tag (API + Web runs need two configs)
  • Review and live metrics
  • Use and to compare runs over time

Expected outcome

You understand the Performance Testing workflow — functional testcase as the flow, performance testcase as the load model, cloud execution with Test Run Configs, and Test Results for metrics and baseline comparison.
